Freedom of speech

The rationales to prove why we need to have free speech :

1. Human self-fulfilment. The powers of speech and abstract thought distinguish human beings from other animals. If we cannot express our thoughts and feelings, we cannot realise our full, individual humanity.

2. Truth. We cannot get at the truth unless we are exposed to the relevant facts, opinions and arguments. Even false ones may contain a sliver of truth, or provoke us to clarify our own as we respond to them (see P5).

3. Good government. We cannot govern ourselves well unless we are exposed to, and can freely debate, the full range of views and policy alternatives within our society – and beyond it. Nor can we effectively control our government (see P3).

4. Living with difference. We live in a world in which everyone is becoming neighbours with everyone else, either physically, because we live in the same place, or virtually, through the internet and mobile devices. We therefore need to understand the ways in which our neighbours are different from us – and why those differences matter to them. To speak openly about all kinds of human difference, without coming to blows, is the best way of learning to live with diversity (see P4, 6 and 7).

My understanding

Human self fulfillment

Self-Fulfillment defined self-fulfillment as "carrying to fruition one's deepest desires or one's worthiest capacities."[1] Another definition states that self-fulfillment is "the attainment of a satisfying and worthwhile life well lived."[2] It is an ideal that can be traced to Ancient Greek philosophers, and one that has been common and popular in both Western and non-Western cultures.[1] Self-fulfillment is often seen as superior to other values and goals

Twitter’s place for human self;fulfillment, regulate twitter,  there is limitation

Means that twitter is place for human to share their thought, expression for commenting anything expecially what government has done if only not suitable and fulfill human need, assuming government limit society  to share idea, means government hamper them to tell fulfill their needs even is bad or not ex; some people or marginalized community is discriminated by policy of government like LGBT unaccepted in several country like rusia, we think of telling expression in twitter is  as mean to fulfill their need namely identity in order to be heared by government and any other parties

Secondly as the form of self-defense when some small groups are become the object of defamation or bad public judgement that create hatecrime for some other groups like conservatives, ex media bigotry that constantly share out worst information about islam and at the end Islamic people become target of discrimination and hatecrime by islam hater, we think of sharing positive thing of self-defense in twitter is part of humanity, because by doing so they can protect themselves from that bad public judgement

Truth, we can not gain the through if we can not make it relevant to other fact

You will think that society will not get truth and they will be confused on which information is true or not,

Good government: manajemen yang baik

We cannot show up and impart our idea unless all of people recognize us through existing information

We will not be informative person if we have no much information
